Default HTC Desire HD

So the Desire HD is out and apparently I got lucky and found the one guy that didn't know he should be selling them unlocked and SIM free!

Right now I'm really not sure what to think. I was loving the device, until I tried playing a podcast through the built in speaker. Why is it so hard for HTC to put a decent speaker in a device!

It's also kinda heavy compared to my SGS and the colours on the screen look a little washed out, but everything else is pretty awesome.

Although the colours aren't as vibrant as the SGS, the screen does look great. The overall feel is of quality, the camera is amazing -

Anyway, I will of course be writing a full review for Hemorrdroids.net, but right now I', still leaning towards keeping the SGS. The DHD would probably sell for quite a good price this week too!

Oh man, I'm swinging back and forth between keeping this or staying with my SGS.

Yesterday the HUGE downer was the internal speaker, but the amazing camera swung me back. This morning I've seen how quick the browser is and I'm leaning towards the DHD...

Pete, you won't be disappointed. Are you getting it as an upgrade? Have you winged about your Hero to them yet?

So I've now overclocked my DHD to 1.5Ghz! Linpack touched on 52 and Quadrant on 2,600! Ouch!

I love that the Desire HD is the phone used in the Toyota Yaris advert

Andy - I love the review - and certainly like the look of the phone.

I've got an iPhone 3G at the mo, it's a long time out of contract too (I'm still on one of the unlimited data contracts) but I'm looking to upgrade.

I'm not keen on the iPhone 4 - it's just far too similar to my current phone - I want something new, something that I have to learn all over again

Given that your review was a few months ago now, do you still think the Desire HD is a great phone? Is it worth me waiting until about May for the Desire S? I think I prefer the HD given its larger screen, but will the HD get the same upgrades to the Android software?

Also, what about contracts/upgrade deals? Do you have any recommendation on those? Mine is currently with O2 on the Online 45 tariff - 1200 mins, 500 texts and unlimited data. I rarely use all the minutes and often get near the limit of texts.

Any comments appreciated and hope all is well with you.

Hello mate. Well, the Desire HD is still a great phone. Myself I've moved from it to the Nexus S, but there isn't much between them.

There are a whole bunch of new phones on there way within the next couple of months, myself I like the look of the Samsung Galaxy S2, but it's being touted at something crazy like 600 right now. I'm sure nearer the time the price will drop.

As for contracts, I had a tip to call retentions rather than sales (or whoever it usually is) and got Orange to give me a Desire HD for free on a 20 a month contract. Generally if you say someone else (Vodafone) have offered you something else, they will do their best to match it.

Good point - I used retentions a lot when I was with T-Mobile. Only switched to O2 because at the time, they had the iPhone on an exclusive deal with Apple. T-Mobile were very good to me over the years.

I'll have a look at the Samsung S2 and the Nexus S - admittedly neither have ever made it into my shortlist before, but after 2+ years on the iPhone, I need something new.

This will also be my first Android phone too, so that should be fun

Ok, after hours of reading and watching reviews, I'm no going to be getting the HTC Incredible S for myself and the HTC Desire S for the wife.

HTC Incredible S

HTC Desire S

YouTube

I think they are both stunning phones - the Incredible S should be available now, but typical O2 don't stock it direct and the Desire S should be out on 18th April.

What do you guys think?
