Question Clamped While Turning Round

I just saw this on TV and have to wonder if the lady's telling the truth -

Quote:
A motorist had her car clamped while she was still at the wheel.

Jessie Martin pulled into the car park to make a U-turn - but two vans from a clamping firm pulled in to block her exit.

Two men approached her and ordered her to switch off the engine. When she obeyed, they fitted a clamp to her car.
Source

If she was just turning round, surely they'd have to time that really well to block her in? Also, she'd likely be out near the pavement rather than in a space? A photo would show that if she could take one (or her partner when he came along)

They interviewed the guy that clamped her, very briefly, and he was adamant she was parking there.

What do you think?

To be honest - too little information, pictures would be nice.

People will no doubt be assuming the clampers will be in the wrong, but we are only hearing from one side of the situation.

It would seem strange that two vans would be waiting for someone to arrive for them to do that, so for the moment I would probably go with the lady being in the wrong.

well i agree it's hard to judge who's in the wrong.

LBS Enforcement should start investigation, get to the bottom of this. what the paper could have done is see if LBS has had similar complaints made against them.

Like parking tickets, you can't get clamped unless they have photographic evidence.

Hmm, I'm not sure that's true? Can you link to any source?

I was under the assumption of that has to be the case, given all the clampers and traffic wardens around here are always taking pictures whenever they clamp or ticket someone. If it's not law, then it should be - they might be doing it just so if it's taken to court, they have evidence.
