Default Italian Court Finds Google Employees Guilty Over a Google Video

http://gizmodo.com/5478958/italian-c...ing-to-do-with

Basically some italian kids uploaded a video of them abusing a austic Kid. The police used google help to track down the kid and the video was taken down. Now in some idiotic twist by the italian police they have arrested and found 4 employees of google guilty. 3 of the 4 were found guilty of failure to comply with the Italian privacy code. All 4 were found not guilty of criminal defamation.

Should companys be responsible for user content. I have to say its a incrediably slippery slope that leads to the sort of freedom of speech people think we have but actually don't have.

Something doesn't look right. I find it odd they don't really give any detail as to why these 3 where charged. They try to make out they were randomly selected but there has to be some form of reasoning, even if it's ridiculous, surely?

They probably cant tell you more details because of there stupid privacy law!

Should company's be responsible for user content? Yes, but to what extent? Getting rid of content that breaks terms and conditions is a must, but the legality to go after someone is always going to be messy. Each country has different laws and google are now caught in the riffraff.
