Exclamation Global average temperature may hit record level in 2010

<controversy>
From the people that promised us a heatwave this summer:

Quote:
Forecasters predict that the annual figure for 2010 will be 14.58C (58.24F), 0.58C (1.04F) above the long-term average of 14.0C (57.2F).

as weather forecasting is such an exact science, this must be true.

But I suppose there hasn't been a "we're all doomed" news item from the scare-mongerers, sorry, environmentalists for at least half an hour.

With the news that the UEA has been massaging the figures for global warming for a while now, it is only right that we are reminded that 3.5 billion years of life on the planet will be wiped out cos we've been burning coal for a few decades.

Why are they worrying about forecasts when we have actual fact of the weather we've actually had?

What was the average temperature of the last 12 months?

Considering the time frame of changes in temperatue, 12 months isn't a long time, surely? So deal with what we know, rather than what we think will happen...
